I HAVE to say it... Happy New Year!!!

I remember one year in Venezuela when I left my house with a suitcase 1min before midnight and came back 1min later, following the crazy New Year traditions this meant that I would travel in the year to come... you know like you should wear red or yellow panties, have money in your hand for when it stroke midnight for wealth, eat lentil soup so you can be rich, leave your house with a suitcase and come back so you would travel, very important tip depending where you wanted to go you should place some cloths and items in your suitcase.... if I would have known.... that year for me was the year that I joined my current company, I had a job that I loved and the main reason that I took this one was because I had to go to France for training... it couldn't get better than that.... well, that was 10 years ago, about 5 passports, minus 2 languages and 15 countries, and you might be wondering what did I put in my suitcase? well nothing.... and that was a dangerous thing to do... LOL
As for this year, I wanted to do something different, something that I had never done before... no suitcase, nor money in my hand, no crazy color underware or anything in my shoe... I decided to stay home, on my own and wait for the New Year to come... actually I wanted to go to sleep but I thought about my family and how another tradition in Venezuela just goes crazy with everybody calling everbody to wish you Happy New Year... I don't know, people tend to think it's the end of the world and we do spend it with family, it's not about, OK Mum see you next year, no, no, no... family sticks together until that stroke of midnight.... because you never know when is the end of the world and if it does happen, it's going to strike of course at midnight of the New Year!
So what am I hoping for 2007? a stress free life, peace, quiet and love... lets see if happens... I'll let you know next year... oh, you want to know if I have a New Year's resolution? I don't believe in them, I mean I break them in about the first meal or first day... but I do really, really, really want to keep to this... only eat when I'm hungry.................................................. pause, pause, pause.... NOT!
Love,
Carolina

When we were kids, my dad always used to leave the house by the back door and come in the front carrying a piece of coal. It was supposed to bring luck :p Now I know why we were always skint!! Maybe he should have been carrying my mum's diamond engagement ring :D
I wish I had read this message before today !! I would have done the same luggage thing !!!!! :D
I'm glad things happened the way it did for you otherwise I would never have met you ...and what a loss that would have been !!!!!!!

I wish it had started like this for me, but I spent the night running to the bathroom... Hope it's not a sign of how this year will be :S
